Abstract

The review examines the role of a wide range of hormones, including estrogens and androgens in the regulation of mineral metabolism — from antenatal formation to puberty and on the background of extinction of hormonal activity in old age. It is shown that the problem of osteoporosis concerns not only orthopedists and gerontologists, but also endocrinologists who must develop their own approaches aimed at reducing the frequency of osteoporotic phenomena.
