When conducting a standard glucose tolerant test, the subjects were divided into a group of practically healthy individuals and individuals with pre-diabetic glucose metabolism disorders. It has been shown that in practically healthy individuals glucose tolerance and tissue sensitivity to insulin action are maintained, insulin resistance is absent. In persons with pre-diabetes, the index of insulin resistance is accompanied by a decrease in tissue sensitivity to insulin action and a tense work of the insulin apparatus of the pancreas. It was found that in the group of persons 60 years of age and older with a normal index of insulin resistance impairment of glucose tolerance develops on the background of even more pronounced dysfunction of the insular apparatus of the pancreas. These changes are accompanied by a decrease in the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin action. For early diagnosis of pre-diabetes, it is advisable to use determination of levels of glucose and insulin concentration not only on the calculation of the index insulinresistance, but also during a standard glucose-tolerant test.</p> ER -
