The study has been aimed to establish the effects of destructive effects of long-term changes in the lighting regime on the reproductive system of male rats and the search for integrated approaches to its pharmacological correction.

In the course of research it has been found that in the conditions of long lighting, against the background of the weakened circadian rhythm, the development of the expressed melatonin insufficiency is found in searches. Male rats develop profound morphofunctional changes in the reproductive system against the background of light load, which progress and deepen with increasing light time. It has been shown that 12-hour lighting had led to a statistically significant decrease in fructose levels in seminal vesicles by 24% (p ≤ 0.05). Round-theclock lighting had caused even more significant deviations of this indicator from the control values — by 49% (p ≤ 0.05). The number and motility of sperm in these groups also decreased compared to controls.

It is established that the severe consequences of long-term melatonin deficiency in the body for the functioning of the gonads are not irreversible. Experimental evidence for the feasibility and high efficacy of melatonin drugs for the prevention of hypogonadism, in the pathogenesis of which there is a long-term melatonin deficiency has been obtained. Thus, after self-administration of melatonin in both groups of rats, which were under conditions of artificial lighting, there was a normalization of quantitative indicators of germ cells and probably increased the percentage of motile sperm, but, with the exception of their number in gr. 12/12+M, they had not been reached the control indicators. At the same time, the fructose content in seminal vesicles had been increased by 26 % and 36 % in gr. 12/12 + M and 24/00 + M (p ≤ 0.05).

The higher efficiency of the used scheme of course co-administration of melatonin in combination with spirulina for preventive reduction of the risk of reproductive disorders is being shownParticularly pronounced positive effect of such a complex has been observed in the group 24/00. In these animals, there has been a proportional increase in the content of fructose in the seminal vesicles (+ 57 %), and increased the number and quantity of sperm, respectively, by 60 % and 57% (p ≤ 0.05).
}, number={2}, journal={Problems of Endocrine Pathology}, author={Мамотенко, А.
