Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of quercetin on the metabolic manifestations of insulin resistance syndrome induced by high-fat diet in rats under estrogen deficiency. It was revealed that treatment with quercetin ameliorated insulin resistance, decreased visceral fat mass and lipid peroxidation in serum and heart, increased endogen nitric oxide production and decreased ADP-induced platelet aggregation in the ovariectomized rats fed with the high-fat diet. These results show that the quercetin may be used for treatment of the cardio-vascular diseases in postmenopausal
women.
