Abstract

Thyroid hormones are key regulators of metabolic processes. Receptors for triiodothyronine and thyroxine found not only in the cytoplasm, mitochondria and nucleus, but also on cell membranes, therefore, these hormones penetrate the target cells fairly quickly and can directly affect the processes that take place in these organelles.
