Abstract

It was examined the proportion of the group of patients with type 2 diabetes with normal body
weight among hospitalized for one calendar year in endocrinology clinic. It was studied the gender
composition of the group, the age of manifestation and features of the course of diabetes. This group
accounted for 11.36 %, significant gender differences in its composition have not been identified (men —
43.5 %, women — 56.5 %). In most of patients (60.0 % men and 74.0 % women) the type 2 diabetes
was diagnosed in V–VI decades of life, but in the IV decade of the life it manifests more frequently in
men. A year after the detection of diabetes in insulin needed 5.1 % of patients, and a five year duration
of the disease — 15.2 %. By this time, in 82.6 % of patients was formed the diabetic polyneuropathy,
at 44.2 % was formed the retinopathy, at 57.7 % — the angiopathy of lower extremities (significantly
more often in women).
