Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a steadily progressive disease and is recognized worldwide as a non-infectious epidemic. According to the International Diabetes Federation, today there are 382 million patients with diabetes in the world, and according to forecasts, by 2030 the total number of patients with diabetes will reach 592 million. In the structure of diabetes type 2 is 90 - 95% of all pathology. The situation is further complicated by the fact that for 1,1 million registered cases of type 2 diabetes in Ukraine (according to the Center for Medical Statistics of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine at the beginning of 2015), undiagnosed cases of diabetes are 3-4 times higher than the number of identified patients.
