Abstract

It was analyzed the prevalence of obesity in nine regions of South-East Ukraine for the period 2000–2013. It was found that despite the significant increase in the number of patients with obesity during this period in the region, there are significant differences in the frequency of this condition registration in the Luhansk region compared to Sumy, Kharkiv and Kirovograd, where the prevalence of obesity higher than the country’s average level, respectively, 1.4, 1.2 and 1.1 times. Compliance with existing official statistics frequency of obesity and adjusting the frequency of overweight on the example of Kharkiv evaluated on the basis of the screening of overweight and obesity among 180 residents of Kharkiv aged 30–60 years. It was found that overweight and obesity recorded at the same level — 33 % of them, indicating a statistically significant (p < 0.001) discrepancy of the results of official statistics. So there is a need to optimize clinical work on excessive weight gain and obesity in the control of the quality of medicare to the population with pathology weight.
