Abstract

According to the results of measurement of height, weight and body mass index counting 730
residents of a large industrial city over 18 years, applied to the advisory clinic of endocrinology
profile, it was characterized the frequency of their normal weight, overweight and obesity based on
sexual characteristics and the nature of endocrine pathology. It was revealed that 49 % of men and
66 % of women with type 2 diabetes, 50 % of men and 82 % of women with hypothalamic-pituitary
dysfunction, 8 % of men and 35 % of women with thyroid disease, had obesity in varying degrees of
severity. It was concluded the need for further research in the direction of objective evaluation of
the degree of risk of cardiovascular disease and other debilitating pathologies development associated
with excess body weight, depending on the sex, body weight, the nature of endocrine pathology, as
well as to explore possible pathogenic factors contributing to the accumulation of excess fat tissue in
patients with various endocrine pathologies.
