Abstract

It was examined 60 young women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and it was detected increase levels of homocysteine in 50 % of patients. Increase the level of endothelin-1 was found in 75–80 % of the patients with PCOS and hyperhomocysteinemia regardless of the presence or absence of overweight. It was assumed that the hyperhomocysteinemia is an independent risk factor of endothelial dysfunction in patients with PCOS and may contribute the emergence of distant complications of the disease.
