Abstract

It was examined 105 patients with arterial hypertension (AH). The study group included 75 patients with a combination of arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2 (mean age 60,03 ± 1,17). Evaluated changes in structural and functional parameters of left ventricular myocardium depending on the apelin-12 level in patients with arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus type 2 for the analysis of the effect of apelin-12 concentration on the formation of a certain type of myocardium remodeling. Apelin-12 level above 75 percentile (more 1,725 ng/ml) has an antagonistic effect on left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus type 2. The duration of diabetes mellitus type 2 more 5 years with apelin-12 concentration in the range from 25 to 75 percentile and less 25th percentile is associated with the development of concentric hypertrophy and eccentric left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with hypertension.
