Abstract

The aim of study was to evaluate changes of the osteopontin activity in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), regardless of the degree of obesity, as well as to analyze the presence and nature of the relationship between these parameters and indicators of cardiac haemodynamics. The study involved 104 patients with AMI, which were divided into groups, depending on the presence and degree of obesity. The first group consisted of patients with AMI in combination with obesity (n = 74). The second group included patients with AMI without obesity (n = 30). As a control group 15 healthy individuals were examined. It was found, that hyperosteopontinemia increased in proportion to the severity of obesity in patients with AMI. The presence of obesity was accompanied by the increase of osteopontin activity in patients with AMI in case of abdominal fat distribution. The correlation between parameters of left ventricular function and degrees of severity of the obesity, which is associated with the increase of the volume and size of the left ventricle due to lower inotropic function of the heart was found.
