Screening of hormone – producing pituitary adenomas (review of literature and own data)

The article substantiates the need to screen adults of different age groups for early (preclinical) detection of such a rare pathology as acromegaly. Survey and treatment of patients with acromegaly is economically costly for both patients and the state as a whole, and therefore it is proposed screening of this pathology in the risk group using a questionnaire developed at the Department of age-related endocrinology of the «V. Danilevsky Institute for Endocrine Pathology Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine» on the basis of own experience in diagnosis and treatment of patients with acromegaly. The questionnaire is divided into two blocks, which include phenotypic features and signs associated with the development of metabolic and systemic complications.
